Cliff Blake (Franny)- Actor

Cliff Blake, the luckiest undiscovered actor and equally unknown playwright on the face of the Earth, has diligently performed extraordinary everymen on stages across the country with “a range that runs the gamut of roles from A to B!”

His “Atticus, the hero in To Kill a Mockingbird was hailed by critics in Boston as “a coup,” while his “Bob Ewell, villain in the same title at Gloucester Stage was lauded by none other than film icon Liv Ullmann.  His stage work includes some of the great classic roles, including Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman, Iago in Othello, Claudius in Hamlet, and George in Who’s Afraid of  Virginia Woolf.  In his plethora of smaller character roles, he has angled unsuccessfully for a plantation as Gooper with Keir Dullea and Tony nominee Mia Dillon in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, learned a thing or two about life off-Broadway as Mitch in Tuesdays with Morrie, and luck most certainly was his lady every night when he toured the country as Harry the Horse in The Guys and Dolls National Tour.  He’s had the luck o’ the Irish as well — whilst performing his favorite Friel-McDonagh-Shanley-Walsh characters, all the while skirting the same downsides of fame and fortune in the process.

When it comes to baseball, the score changes; for he appeared regularly on YES Network and NESN televised New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox games, albeit in a long-running WB Mason commercial campaign as the bean-brainier half of the Bean Brain Coffee salesman duo.  But it is his fiercely independent film work, unknown to but a chosen few cinephiles, that is now graced with luck unimaginable — to have connected with an incredibly thrown Eephus — to have worked with the Omnes Films community’s “deep depth” of talented artists to play and to honor Franny, baseball, life. . . and the future as we knew it.
