Blues at Timbuctoo
We encourage you to attend Blues at Timbuctoo, an annual concert event scheduled in September at the John Brown Farm State Historic Site in Lake Placid, NY. The event is held outdoors at the 270-acre John Brown Farm State Historic Site in Lake Placid with renowned vocalists, instrumentalists, performers, and storytellers in concert and conversation with the audience. *Rain or Shine! Free & Outdoors! Pack a picnic basket and sun umbrella. *Indoor venue in case of rain!
Movie Under the Stars
What could be better than viewing a film under the stars at the Loj at Heart Lake compliments of our partner, the Adirondack Mountain Club?! Such has been the tradition: to screen a film on active outdoor adventure, Adirondack history, wilderness and stewardship. ADK.org is a nonprofit membership organization that works to protect New York State wild lands and waters by promoting responsible outdoor recreation and building a statewide constituency of land stewardship advocates.
Thrilling Films with Filmmaker Q&As
Barkeater Trails Alliance (BETA) builds, maintains, and advocates for a system of community and backcountry trails for ski touring and mountain biking in the Greater High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park. Adirondack Film and BETA have partnered with Teton Gravity Research to present thrilling films with filmmaker Q&As during the Lake Placid Film Festival including BURIED and Esperanto.
Storytelling in Film
The mission of the Adirondack Center for Writing is to inspire the love of writing, reading and storytelling. During the Film Festival, an illustrious panel of journalists, oral storytellers and filmmakers, discussed their approach to storytelling and how those strategies can be used in filmmaking. The takeaway is that The Story, whether it be fictional or true, is central to all film projects therefore it has to be told in the most compelling way possible.
Keene Arts
Keene Arts Keene Arts is a community art center nested in the Town of Keene, New York, and serving the communities of Keene, Keene Valley, and the High Peaks. The Old Methodist Church was built shortly after the town was incorporated in 1836 and has been a gathering place ever since. Malcolm & Zizi MacDougall purchased the Church in 2010 and since then, it has become a home to music, movies, art, theater, yoga and even weddings. It hosts a June Concert Series and a number of art exhibits from July through September. Other programming comes out of collaborations with community partners including EBFA, High Peaks Artists, Adirondack Film, and the Mountaineer which has been a great supporter of KA and hosts a number of events throughout the year.
