Student Shorts
Students are encouraged to submit their short film to Your Shorts Are Showing under the Student category.
Network with acclaimed film professionals. Learn from industry leaders. Have the chance to see your short film on The Big Screen at Lake Placid Film Festival (Nov 5-8, 2026)!
Criteria
- Student films can be of any genre, from drama and comedy, to animation and experimental films
- All submissions must be between 2-15 minutes in length.
- All submissions must have been completed within three years of the festival. In other words, to qualify this year, your film should have been completed no earlier than 2023.
- Any submission using copyrighted material or generative AI will be disqualified from competition
- There is no limit to the number of films you can enter for submission, but there is no discount to the submission fee.
2026 Deadlines and Fees
- Student Early Bird Deadline: May 1st
- Submission Fee: $20
- Student Regular Deadline: August 1st
- Submission Fee: $25
- Student Late Deadline: September 1st
- Submission Fee: $35
2026 Judges
Judging is entirely impartial and selections are on the basis of storyline, production, sound, and technological excellence.
