For 20 years, the Lake Placid Film Festival has built an enduring reputation through a wonderful selection of international films, enlightened discussions and opportunities for filmmakers and film lovers to connect in the cachet of Lake Placid, a mountain resort town and Olympic Village set in the natural splendor of the Adirondack Mountains.
Throughout the years, the LPFF has featured and hosted academy award winning directors such as Guillermo Del Toro, John Sayles, Milos Forman, Norman Jewison and Martin Scorsese. Actors including Debra Winger, Kyra Sedgwick, Jon Favreau, Matthew Modine, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cliff Robertson, Peter Riegert, Steve Buscemi, Tony Shalhoub, Patricia Clarkson, Campbell Scott and Willem Dafoe...to name a select few.
Over its 20 plus years, the Festivals have consistently delivered a combination of feature length, documentary, short and student films and our annual event includes conversations, panels, seminars, filmmakers, producers, directors, actors, screenwriters and special events.

Audiences enjoyed four days of total cinematic immersion and camaraderie set in the authentic Adirondack mountain town of Lake Placid, New York.

Honoring esteemed Director, Screenwriter and Producer Raoul Peck, Director of acclaimed film “I am not your Negro”, "Lumumba" and newly released HBO series, “Exterminate all the Brutes”, voted best docuseries by the AAFCA, among TV honors.
Born in Haiti, raised in the Congo, U.S., France and Germany, Peck earned an economic-engineering master’s degree at the University of Berlin and then studied film at the Academy of Cinema and Television in Berlin. He served as Haiti’s Minister of Culture from 1996 to 1997.
Raoul Peck is one of the most significant and prolific filmmakers of our time, richly rewarded for his historical, political and artistic work.
Jeffrey Brown is celebrated Senior Arts and Entertainment Correspondent for the “PBS Newshour”.
